Custodian arrested for filming New Jersey students, teachers

|

Authorities have arrested a man that worked at a southern New Jersey school
as a custodian. The man was arrested late last month, accused of placing
eight cameras around the school and filming students and teachers, including
in student changing areas. The man had to resign as chief custodian at
the high school, and prosecutors say the man was in charge of the surveillance
system at the school.

He is now facing charges of invasion of privacy, and extreme damage to
his reputation. According to reports, he turned himself into police and
was released while he awaits court proceedings. People who are arrested
for crimes often don’t understand the legal process. Speaking with
an experienced criminal defense attorney in New Jersey might be a wise decision.

The authorities in this case claim the man placed pinhole-size cameras
in classrooms, a choir room and other places around the campus. According
to a new report, the man has not publicly been accused of placing the
cameras and linking them to the surveillance system, but prosecutors say
that the man was in charge of the cameras. Those who are arrested, especially
for a crime that affects their current job, might have a difficult time
finding employment in the future. They may have to explain any convictions
to future employers.

An experienced attorney can help a person accused of a crime defend their
reputation and record. When evidence is lacking or was gathered illegally
people should work to form a rigorous defense and receive a fair trial.
