Man arrested in New Jersey for prostitution, trafficking, sexual assault

|

A man was arrested late last month for allegations of participating in
a male prostitution ring. Authorities say the man lured young men and
teen boys to his apartment to use drugs, such as heroin and cocaine, and
then prostituted them to male clients. He allegedly found vulnerable people
who may have been estranged from their family or in a difficult situation.

While an investigation will likely continue, the man has already been charged
with human trafficking, sexual assault and prostituting a minor. The Attorney
General says the man will be rigorously prosecuted. It is important to
remember that however severe these allegations might be, people who are
charged with a crime are still innocent until proven guilty.

When people are arrested, they might be wise to speak with an experienced
criminal defense attorney. An attorney can help advice a person of their
rights. An arrest for sex crimes in New Jersey could result in a conviction
that might result in a length prison sentence. This could potentially
make it more difficult for a person to find housing or employment.

It is important for people to understand the sensitivities of a case like
this. However, it is equally important that every person is treated fairly
by the courts and that every person is able to defend themselves and have
a fair trial. If a person loses a trial, they may have the right to appeal
the conviction, especially if there was a possible violation of the accused
person’s rights.
