Man faces child porn charges for unusual accusation

A man in a neighboring state is facing an unusual accusation. Prosecutors
say the 73-year-old man has been charged with possession of child pornography
and will face the charges in federal court. He is accused of pasting children’s
heads onto adult bodies in pornographic images. However unusual this accusation
might seem, it is still very serious. The man could face up to ten years
in prison if he is convicted.
Although the man was not charged with possession of child pornography in
New Jersey, the man was charged under federal laws and will have a trial
in federal court. People in New Jersey could also be subject to similar
federal charges, although different state level courts have also overturned
convictions because no minors were actually engaged in sexual acts. According
to a report, the charges stem from court rulings in two federal courts
that say the court has an interest in protecting minors whose faces might
appear in pornographic images.
Because sometimes courts vary in their decisions, it is important that
people understand their rights if they are accused of a crime. They might
be wise to speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney if they
are facing child pornography charges.
An experienced attorney can help a person form a rigorous criminal defense
and make sure that all court cases are considered when presenting a defense
to the court. If a person is convicted, an attorney might be able to help
the person seek an appeal in hopes of overturning a decision by a lower court.
