When people work in areas that are considered in the public or community
spotlight, they are often subject to a higher level of scrutiny. Sometimes
this can result in publicity of allegations, even before a person has
a fair trial or change to defend themselves.
A soccer coach in New Jersey was recently arrested and charged with child
pornography related charges. These sex crime related accusations can be
detrimental to a person’s reputation in New Jersey. While it is important
in situations such as this one to be sensitive to any potential victims
of a crime, it is important that people who are accused of such severe
crimes have a chance to receive a fair trial.
The man in this case is in a position where he interacted with children
as a soccer coach, which has resulted in increased criticism. The man
has not yet been able to stand trial and defend himself, but damage to
his reputation may have already occurred. Sometimes during cases such
as this one, evidence is mixed up or improperly handled, which can result
in a violation of the rights of the person being accused.
Any improper handling of evidence or violation of a person’s rights
could result in a wrongful conviction. A person who is accused of a crime
or arrested might be wise to speak with an experienced New Jersey criminal
defense attorney. They can help a person charged with a sex crime or other
offense understand and defend their rights. This can help the person receive
a fair trial.
