Three New Jersey men face criminal charges for Freightliner theft

The theft of a vehicle is a serious crime. Last week, New Jersey Police
arrested and charged three men for allegedly stealing a semi-truck. Police
say that the men stole the truck from the A C Fleet Trucking Co., and
were spotted by an employee. The employee then said they called police
and followed the truck.
Reports don’t indicate whether the truck was hauling any cargo at the
time, but police say they tried to stop the vehicle and the three men
fled on foot. They were later arrested in a nearby cemetery.
The three men were charged with theft, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
One of them was also charged with eluding. These charges should be taken
very seriously and they could result in jail time.
Added to the arrests was the fact that one of the top members of the state
police force assisted in the arrest, which is unusual, leading to an increase
in media coverage. This media coverage can hurt a person’s reputation
before they have the chance at a fair trial. Media coverage is also usually
one sided in criminal matters, going only off of the police reports which
are worded sometimes dramatically to try to secure a conviction.
Because a person’s reputation can record can influence their potential
future employment goals, it might be wise for someone who is facing criminal
charges in New Jersey to consult a criminal defense attorney. They can
help make sure the person’s rights are preserved throughout the legal process.
